buybuy Baby awards advertising business to Hammerhead Advertising

Hoboken, NJ September 30, 2004 -- Hammerhead Advertising, Hoboken, N.J., has pried buybuy Baby, one of the regions largest baby products retailers, away from its long-standing relationship with Berenter Greenhouse Webster, NY now owned by Bozell Worldwide. Hammerhead will handle all aspects of the retailers advertising from creative development and brand planning through media planning and buying. This fall, Hammerhead will be launching a new brand campaign positioning buybuy Baby as a true resource for parents. buybuy Baby, headquartered in Garden City, NY, currently owns and operates 7 superstores throughout New Jersey, New York and Maryland. The stores range in size from 28,000 square feet to 55,000 square feet.

Hammerheads buybuy Baby win is just one of several larger accounts the agency has managed to woo away from larger New York and New Jersey firms. The agency attributes a large part of their success to the fact that they spend less time fighting big agency politics and more time on creating great advertising. Advertisers often get caught up in the idea that they need a big agency. What they dont realize is that they often get more attention at a smaller shop, the creative is as good if not better, and their dollars tend to go a lot further adds Todd McVey, the agencys co-founder and co-creative director.

Hammerhead Advertising, which operates out of an old factory in Hoboken, NJ has been in business for a little over 4 years. Theyve consistently tripled their billings each year since opening their doors. Hammerheads rapid growth is fueled by their unwavering emphasis on edgy creative, brand development and strategic smarts along with their traditional and non-traditional approach to media planning.

Hammerheads current list of clients include Chef Central, buybuy Baby, Interlux (a division of Akzo Nobel), Component Hardware, Intronis (software company), Remington Consumer Products projects, Samsung projects and pro bono work for the New Jersey Partnership for a Drug-free America.

Hammerhead was co-founded by X New York agency patriots Todd McVey and John Perls who are also the agencies creative directors. Michelle Baxter, who was recruited from Kirshenbaum Bond and Partners, leads the account management team.
